Why Are Flamingos Pink?

Possible answers :
This colour may be a part of their DNA .
Their food contains beta carotene which is a red-
orange pigment.
My hypothesis :
My hypothesis stated that the colour of flamingo is pink
because of their food contains beta carotene which is a
red-orange pigment.
Testing of the hypothesis :
The normal colour of flamingos is dull grey or pure
white so that it is not a part of their DNA .

The nutrition style of flamingos depends mainly on

the algae, larvae, and brine shrimp that they eat in
their wetland environment , these types of food
contain large percent of beta carotene which is a
red-orange pigment where the digestive system,
enzymes break down carotenoids into pigments that
are absorbed by fats in the liver and deposited, for
flamingos, in the feathers and skin. To actually colour
the physical attributes, carotenoids must be ingested
in very large amounts. Because the flamingo diet is
nearly exclusively carotenoid-filled delicacies, the
birds have no problem colouring themselves.

Analysing the data:

It is found that the flamingos eat large amount of the
food that contain beta carotene which is a red-
orange pigment .
Conclusions:
This prove my hypothesis that the pink colour of flamingo
is because of their food contains beta carotene which is a
red-orange pigment that gives their skin and feather the
pink colour.
