Good day,

I am Cdt.RAM NIWAS CHAUHAN, employee id- 525418.

I am here to lay my timeline from my sign off from my last vessel to my COC .

24th july 2018 - i signed off from my last vessel SEASPAN LUMACO.
I went Great eastern shipping co., Mumbai for my SSTP in aug 2018.

I spent 24 days in Mumbai but I was still in waiting list for SSTP and I returned to my home.
My GMDSS course was booked for the month of Sept 2018, IIPM Kolkata. I cleared GMDSS
course in first attempt.

I got seat for functions in Nov 2018, in FOSMA kolkata. I returned Mumbai for my SSTP again as
I was informed by Capt. J.B. Singh.
I completed my functions in feb 2019.
I started doing my modular courses in kolkata, seats were very limited, so, as soon as I got seats
I completed my all modular courses in different institutes.

After completing my all modular courses , I applied for my assessment in Kolkata MMD. 
My assessment was kept on hold because signature of Capt on CDC and watchkeeping
certificates didn’t  match. I informed SEASPAN regarding this issue, and I got an early response
from you.

Sir, I am so glad that you resolved my issue within minutes. And I am very thankful for that. You
were very helpful.

My assessment in Kolkata MMD was on hold for 2 months. I visited MMD 3 times regarding this
issue.
Finally It got resolved.

Then, A new rule came from IMU that if the candidate appeared MMD exams before appearing
in IMU sem exams , that candidate will not be eligible for the B.Sc degree.
As, IMU exams comes only 2 times in a year so, I waited for finishing my IMU sem exams.
I booked the IMU exams in July 2019.
Then, I got some financial issues from my home and I had to returned back to my home. I
transferred my file to DELHI MMD.
Nov 2019 - I booked my all written exams.
Nov 2019- I cleared my signal exam.
Dec 2019- I booked my all 3 orals. But, I was not able to give my orals because 2 days before
orals my granny died and I had to leave to my village with my parents.
Jan 2020- I got my result of written exams and I passed all written exams.
Soon after one month my granny died, my younger brother did Suicide and my whole family
was in shock. My mother’s condition that time gone very bad. It was a hard time for my family.
And I was not able to prepare for my orals. I booked my orals in March 2020 but I was not able
to give my orals as I was not prepared.

March 2020- lockdown occurred due to COVID. MMD was shut for 6 months. Candidates who
had booked orals for April 2020 were pending. Delhi MMD informed us that booking for orals
will open after April 2020 candidate’s orals are done. 

During lockdown my father lost his job as he is a labour and work for a construction company.
My family returned to my village in Azamgarh, UP as they had no money left to survive. I didn’t
go with my family as I had to prepare for my orals.

I searched for a job. And I got a job at a Medical store as a cashier.

 I worked there as a cashier for 7 months and after my job timing I used to prepare for my orals.

Nov 2020- I got chance to book my orals and I passed in fun 2.

Jan 2021- I got chance to book my remaining orals and I passed in fun 3.

March 2021- I got chance to book my last oral and I passed in fun 1.

After passing I reported SEASPAN.

I apologise for delaying for my COC exams as I didn’t complied with the 30 months policy.

Sir, I request you to forgive my delaying as I am very much eager to serve for seaspan with my
full capability and will prove my capability with my work on-board. I want to serve being loyal
for SEASPAN and as SEASPAN gave my chance and a beautiful platform to perform my duties at
full capacity.

Sir, I thank you for guiding me at moments whenever I required and for helping me while on-
board and during my assessment.

Mar 2019 Submitted file for assessment -(sign did not match). Assessment on hold.
Mar 2019 - May 2019 Assessment and Modular courses done.
July 2019 Booked IMU exams because as per new rule from IMU that if the
candidate appeared MMD exams before appearing in IMU sem exams ,
that candidate will not be eligible for the B.Sc degree.
Booked Fun1 (4 subjects) MMD written exam but appeared in only 2
subjects as I was not prepared for remaining 2 subjects.
Passed in appeared written exams.

Oct 2019 Booked Fun 1 (2 subjects), Fun2, Fun 3 MMD written exams
Nov 2019 Gave Fun 1 (2 subjects), Fun2, Fun 3MMD written exams
Nov 2019 Gave Signal Exam and Passed
Dec 2019 Booked orals but, I was not able to give my orals because 2 days before
orals my granny died and I had to leave to my village with my parents.
Jan 2020 Passed all written exams
Feb 2020 Booked orals
Mar 2020 I was not prepared for orals because of my mother’s poor health condition and
hard time for family as I lost my brother.
23rd Mar 2020 Lockdown
May 2020 – Nov 2020 Did job at a Medical Shop for my expenses as during lockdown my father lost
his job as he worked for a construction company. My family returned to
my village in Azamgarh, UP as they had no money left to survive. I didn’t
go with my family as I had to prepare for my orals.

23rd Mar – Sep 2020 MMD shut down for 6 months

Oct 2020 Booked orals
Nov 2020 Passed Fun 2 oral
Dec 2020 Booked Fun 1 and 3 orals
Jan 2021 Passed Fun 3 oral
Feb 2021 Booked Fun 1 oral
Mar 2021 Passed Fun 1
Apr 2021 Received COC

If MMD would not have been shut because of Lockdown, I would have cleared Orals till Sep 2020 i.e.
within 30 months after my signed off.
