Answer

Step 1

A plate is a structural element which is characterized by a three-dimensional solid whose

thickness is very small when compared with other dimensions. Thin plates are initially flat
structural members bounded by two parallel planes, called faces, and a cylindrical surface,
called an edge or boundary.
Nodes will have nodal (vector) displacements or degrees of freedom which may include
translations, rotations, and for special applications, higher order derivatives of
displacements. When the nodes displace, they will drag the elements along in a certain
manner dictated by the element formulation.

Step 2

The field is the domain of interest and most often represents a physical structure. The field
variables are the dependent variables of interest governed by the differential equation.
Eliminate rows & columns corresponding to the dofs with prescribed displacements/rotation
(bc is prescribed displacement=0) from stiffness matrix. Eliminate the rows corresponding to
prescribed dofs load vector. Solve the reduced system of equation to get the unknown
displacements.

Step 3

Here given data:

Constant stress
Stress along X-axis
σx=20 psi
Stress along Y-axis
σy=10 psiTxy=10 psiE=30 M psiv=0..3
Now using below formula
σxσxσxy=Dεxεxγxy ..... (1)D=E(1+v)(1-2v)1-vv0v1-v0001-2v2
Substitute the values
D=30×1061+0.3(1-0.6)0.70.300.30.70000.2D=750×106130.70.300.30.70000.2
Substitute values of stress and  [D] in equation (1)
201010=750×106130.70.300.30.70000.2εxεyγxy750×106130.7εx+0.3εy=20 ..... (2)750×106130.
3εx+0.7εy=10 ..... (3)750×106130.2γxy=10γxy=0.86667×10-8
By solving equation (2) and (3)
εx=4.76667×107εy=4.3333×108
At node (3), no displacement due to fixed element
At node (2),
δ2=εy×yδ2=4.3333×10-8×2δ2=8.6666×10-8 in
At node (4),
δ4=εx×xδ4=4.76667×10-8×3δ4=14.3×10-7 in
At node (1),
δ1=δ22+δ42δ1=(8.6666×10-8)2+(14.3×10-7)2δ1=14.3262×10-7 in
Step 4

Conclusion
Here deformation occured due to shear are neglected.
Nodal displacement of each point is
δ1=14.3262×10-7 inδ2=8.6666×10-8 inδ3=0 inδ4=14.3×10-7 in
