1. What comes to your mind when you hear the word "Statistics"? What do you know
about Statistics?
Answer:
In my own understanding when I heard about the word “Statistics” is that first of
all it involves graphical charts/representation like bar, line , pie and etc. From which
these graphs came from the sample where the population was taken. Second, statistics
we cannot deny that this is a branch of mathematics we learn from our high school that
deals in data collection, organization, interpretation, presentation and analyzing
numerical data.
From what is my current knowledge about statistics is that it uses different
statistical methods/treatments to represent the data. Some of which I knew are mean,
mode, median, standard deviation because during in our Senior High School we did try
different methods in solving a problem as our subject. Also we use statistics to analyze
and present our data’s in our Practical Research subject. So, to wrap up my
understanding, I had some or enough knowledge in Statistics.

2. Why there is a need for you to study Statistics? In what way do you think you can
apply your knowledge in statistics?
Answer:
Statistics is not just only a subject that’s why it is need to study but a significant
tool that we can use in the future. Statistics can be applied in school, business or in
different fields. It is very helpful in solving real or non-real life problems. Sooner or
later, we can encounter statistics problem and by the basic understanding and proper
usage of statistics we can easily solve those problems as a piece of cake. That’s why
it is in need and crucial to be studied.
We will be having our thesis this semester and I think this is a perfect time to
use and apply my basic understanding and knowledge about statistics. Moreover,
statistics can be applied in different fields/areas but as of today I would apply it in my
studies.
