Carrying A Tray : Load , Carry & Unload A Tray

A Nonslip Tray

 First ensure that your tray is clean and dry.


 cover the tray with a cloth to help prevent items from slipping. ensure cloth is
clean with no stains or marks on it.
 Place the tray in a secure position on the table i.e. not sticking out over the edge
of the counter or table.

 Take The Tray And Put It On The Centre Of Your Hand With Your Fingers Are
Lightly Spread Open
 Put The Drinks On The Tray
 Pick Up The Tray Using Both Hands.
 Slide The Supporting Hand Under The Tray. Support A Heavier Tray On Your
Palm And Forearm With Your Wrist Straight And Your Fingers And Thumb
Extended.
 Be Careful To Put The Drinks In Such A Way That The Tray Will Not Be Unsteady
During The Service.
 Always Start By Putting The Drinks In The Centre Of The Tray
 Balance Your Drinks On Your Tray, Starting From The Center Of Your Tray With
The Heavier Drinks And Working Outwards With The Lighter Drinks.
 You Must Hold Your Tray In A Horizontal Position To Keep It Balanced –
 Hold Your Try As Far From The Customer As Possible
 Keep The Tray Within 12-Centimeters Of Your Body. Never Hold A Tray At Or
Above Your Shoulders. Relax Your Shoulder At A Natural Angle. Never Stretch
Your Shoulder Away From Your Body.
 Be Aware Of Any Steps, Narrow Areas Or Uneven Carpet And Always Look
Straight When Walking Carrying The Tray

 Never load wine bottles together with glasses onto a tray.


 If you are lifting a loaded tray off the floor make sure that you bend your knees
while keeping your back straight to prevent back injury.
