BBSG24MP f/w & s/w update via USB stick

Please note that by using and / or updating the BBSG24MP software or firmware you are agreeing to
the terms of the JoeCo Software Licence Agreement. The licence agreement can be found in the
User Manual or under the support tab on www.joeco.co.uk

Update DSP runtime software:

Copy update-sg v3.5.0.0.bbr1 file into root folder of a FAT32 formatted USB2/3 stick

[A] With BB front panel buttons and wheel or PS2 keyboard navigate on BB LCD screen to

Main Menu -> update -> Permit -> any system update

Press “MENU” to select the “any system update” option.

Press “BACK” to return to main screen.

Plug USB stick into socket on rear of BB.

System scans disk and offers update

Accept this using MENU button

Update writing and verifying takes a minute or so – progress is shown on the LCD.

If there are no errors user is invited to re-power BB

Remove usb stick

If there was an error re-power and try again from [A] point above.

If a USB stick is not “seen” by BB try a different type/size as there may be the odd rogue type which
is not fully compatible.

Update FPGA firmware:

Copy update-bbsg24mp-io-vE_12apr18.bbr2 file into root folder of FAT32 USB2/3 stick

Press MENU button to accept.

BB asks to be re-powered

Re-power BB which will start into Firmware update mode as shown on LCD screen

The number in the filename “update-sg v3.5.0.0.bbr” reflects the version number of the software update file.

The FPGA firmware update filename “update-bbsg24mp-io-vE_12apr18.bbr” reflects the version number “E”
and the date it was created “12 April 2018” in this example

When message on LCD screen invites you to “Insert update” in red text then plug in the USB stick.
FPGA update will not be offered if you plug the disk in too early (i.e. before screen message). It is
best to wait for a few seconds after the message appears before plugging in the USB stick

System will then scan the disk and offers update file

Accept the update (using MENU button) which then proceeds for about a minute.

Progress is reported on LCD screen.

Re-power when invited to.

Remove usb stick

If there was an error repeat the procedure from [B] above:

Notes:

1) FPGA update will not proceed if the update file is found to be identical to current FPGA
configuration.

Check versions

On BB LCD

Navigate to main menu -> about

This page reports the current DSP runtime s/w on the second line which after this update should
read:

v3.5.0.0

FPGA firmware is reported in the blue text on the fourth line and should read

BBSG24MP f/w fact:0 app:E

On The JoeCo control GUI “system” tab

BB Runtime version 3.5.0.0

BB Firmware version E
