KG Manufacturing (KGM) produce components for the car industry. It employs 5,000 workers. Some of the work
involves using dangerous materials and some of these tasks could be automated. KGM factories produce waste
and other pollution. There is a shortage of young, skilled workers in the country KGM operates in.
1 Explain two laws that would constrain how KGM deals with its workers, if it operated in your country. [4]

2 Examine two benefits that KGM might experience if it clearly fulfilled all of its legal obligations to
its workers. [4]

3 Discuss whether workers at KGM would willingly accept automation of some of the production processes. [6]

4 Explain two social responsibilities that KGM has. [4]

5 Do you think KGM would benefit from increased immigration into the country it operates in? [6]

6 If a pressure group took action against KGM to force it to reduce the pollution it caused, discuss how likely
this pressure group is to succeed. [6]
