ACTIVITY 6.2: LENSES AND THE HUMAN EYE

1. If an 8 cm doll is standing away from a diverging lens (concave) and the focal length is 6
m, find the image distance, magnification and image height from 4, 8, and 10 m away.
Determine if the image is real or virtual, inverted or erect, smaller or larger.

3. Explain why the converging lens is used to fix farsightedness.

Correction of farsightedness uses a converging lens that compensates for the under
convergence by the eye. The converging lens produces an image farther from the eye
than the object, so that the farsighted person can see it clearly.
