Filament Winding Technique (FWT) is a very commonly used process to manufacture FRP pipes and pressure vessels
of industrial use due to its extremely higher strength to weight ratio. The performance of filament wound (FW) pipes is
very much affected by processing parameters such as winding angle, stacking sequence, stacking thickness, volume
fraction of fiber, fiber pretension etc. Apart from the processing variables, certain service factors like lateral load also
affect the overall performance of the component. In chemical industries­ FW pipes and vessels for storage and
transportation of hazardous substances; in defense industry­ missile bodies and housing for rocket motors; in
automotive industry­ FW fuel tanks used specially in natural gas powered vehicles; in medical industry­ oxygen
cylinders, breathing devices, self contained breathing devices etc., applications demand for very high reliability
