The beam from our example of strength design by partial prestressing is to be redesign based on
load balancing. The same trial concrete cross section will be used with total depth of 48 inch,
flange width 70 inch, average flange thickness 6 inch and web width 14 inch. Section properties
are the same and moments due to self-weight, external dead load, and service live load are the
same with tendon eccentricity varying parabolic from 23.0 inch at midspan to zero at the
supports. R = 0.85, f’c = 5 ksi. Use Grade 250 stranded cable.
