Larry Benet’s 5 Step Formula to Connect with Others
Presented at Jay Abraham’s Event
“One of the Most Powerful Skills YOU have is your ability to CONNECT with others.
What’s even More Powerful is your ability to ADD VALUE to others.” ~ Larry Benet
5 Step Formula to Connect with Others
1. You want to make an authentic connection with someone.
2. You want to find out what is most important to someone else.
3. Once you know what is most important, see if you can help them in some way, shape or form.
4. Be a Value Creator
5. It’s not good enough to just connect and add value you need to keep in touch.
Connection Questions to Begin Building a Relationship with Someone
● What is your biggest accomplishment you are proud of and why?
● Within 2 minutes of meeting someone, ask one of these questions:
○ ”What do you do for fun? or
○ “What are you most passionate about in life.?”
● What is your favorite charity or cause that you care about?
If you ask the right questions, you can connect with anyone, anywhere or anytime.
Everyone has value to add to others.
Biggest Mistakes People Make At Events: Gathering business cards and not learning anything about the
person behind the business card. Once you can understand what drives someone you can make a better
connection.
Are you a Giver or a Taker in your relationships? Be a Giver and you will achieve your goals
Your 30 Day Action Plan to Connect with Your Most Important Relationships
1. Identify 1550 of your most important relationships?
2. Categorize these relationships. (Job Title, Industry, Religion, Location) create categories that will
allow you to easily identify your relationships.
3. Reach out to 5 people a day and just let them know you were thinking of them (DO NOT PITCH
YOUR PRODUCTS/SERVICES). Ask each person “What is the most important project you are
currently working on over the next 6 months that I or someone in my network might be able to help
you with?
4. Listen to what they share and think about how you or someone in your network could help them.
5. Create 3 memorable moments a day for other people each day.
