Note:
TM SmartEdge will install and start the RAM disk software of 1 GB RAM occupancy as a
virtual hard drive to ensure the image storage stability to external network devices for
visual jobs. After stopping the software, the system releases the RAM space.
In this software, the naming rules for custom names and paths are restricted to use:
letters (both uppercase and lowercase letters), digits, and underscore.
Hardware Requirements
The following introduces the required hardware equipment of TM SmartEdge.
Personal Computer(designated)

Industrial Camera(tethered)
Use with TM Plug&Play industrial camera to capture real-time images to perform visual jobs.
Note:
It is favored to connect up to 4 industrial cameras to the system based on the hardware
requirement as listed in 1.2.1 Personal Computer(designated).
Use TM SmartEdge
Software Installation
Before using TM SmartEdge, users must download and unzip the TMflow installation file from
the official website, execute Setup64.exe in the unzipped folder, and follow the installation
instructions of the executable file to complete the installation.
Before using the TM Plug &Play industrial camera, download the TM SmartEdge camera driver
package.zip from the official website, and install the driver of the specified version of the camera
in the zipped file to connect the industrial camera during visual job editing. During the installation
of the Balser industrial camera driver, it is required to perform the steps below.
After the installation, in the Windows system, click in the sequence: Control Panel> System>
Software Activation
To launch TM SmartEdge, a TM Dongle must be inserted into a USB port of the computer. Click
the TMflow icon at the desktop to launch TM SmartEdge.
Operation Interface
The operation interface of TM SmartEdge and TMflow on the TM Robot are identical, but some
functions are unable to operate in TM SmartEdge due to the absence of the robot. The comparison
table between TM SmartEdge and TMflow is as below.

Switch Mode
Use the mode switch button at top to switch TM SmartEdge to Auto mode (for execution only) or
Manual mode (for project editing).
View
In the view page, it consists of Display Board, Flow, IO, and Action Viewer, and goes with the start,

pause, and stop buttons for project operations. Refer to Software Manual TMflow for details.
Project
The project page comes with the node menu consisting of Set, Vision, Stop, Wait for, Gateway, If,
Pause, Goto, Display, Subflow, Network, Warp, Command, Log, Listen, and M-Decision. The
project editing tool bar at top includes Diagnose, Controller, Variables, EditBlock, and Display
Manager. The project function menu at right contains Modbus Device, Set IO while Project Error,
Set IO while Project Stop, Stop Watch, View, Serial Port, and Network Device. Refer to Software
Manual TMflow for details.
TM SmartEdge Setting
System Setting
The system setting of TM SmartEdge includes Language, Groups, User Account, Import\Export,
Administrator Setting, Network Service, and Auto Remote Mode. Refer to Software Manual TMflow
for details.
Note:
Users who purchase AI add-on modules can download the TM SmartEdge AI+ demo project
from the official website for performance testing. After loading the sample project and images,
perform the test sample. The downloaded sample project must be put in a flash drive labelled
TMROBOT, and insert the flash drive into a PC or the industrial computer with TM SmartEdge
installed.
Camera List
Before connecting the camera physically, users can use the Folder in the camera list to select the path
of the images stored in the device to read the images in the path to edit and execute visual jobs.
