Task 1: Maps
Task 2: People are living longer after they retire. What are the problems? What can be done to
solve the problems?

In the new era, human longevity has improved gradually after his retirement. In this essay, I
would discuss the results of this fact and try to push out the plausible solutions.
It’s clear that improvement in longevity could lead to several consequences. First, insurance
budget would soon dry out because the elders have a tendency to stay in nursing homes for the
rest of their lives without continuing to work. Therefore, they would become money pitfalls as
draining money gradually from national insurance company. Additionally, the longer the elders
live, the heavier the burden of national health care system is. To be more specific, they just don’t
work but still consume a large amount of human resources such as nurses, doctors and enjoy
social benefits as long as they are still alive. Second, people who don’t move to nursing homes
after retirements are now more popular that the city population becomes overcrowded with non-
working groups staying together. This then leads to higher social tensions which are the
beginning causes of crimes.
Although potential threads towards society are up-coming and obvious, there are various ways to
alleviate them. The first thing is that encouraging the elders to work after retirement could help
them to continue contributing for the whole society. If they don’t know what kinds of jobs are
suitable for them, the government could open vocational training centers to show them the ways
without any fees. The second thing is that the working ages should be extended a few years for
certain periods. As they have dedicated their whole life for this job, the government shouldn’t
abandon them as well as their perfect skills which could make huge contribution to the national
budget. Furthermore, this is the easiest way to make everything to be normal again which
provides the government some time to implement an ultimate solution ensuring the social
stresses wouldn’t be so high.
In conclusion, despite the fact that the drawbacks of longer life expectancy are foreseeable, there
are promising methods which could make some considerable alleviation as mentioned above.
