agri is the backbone of indian eco.

but declining trend from 1951..
this decline is a major concern as it affects all other economic spheres..
govt has made efforts to modernice indian agriculture

FOOD SECURITY :
food is a basic need and every citizen to have access to it. if not then food
security lacks.
the no. of popu suffering from food security is proportionally is some states
paritculary
regions with less eco dev and more poverty ratio
to ensure food security, govt has implemented policies like:
PDS - Public Distribution System, primary goal is to provide food to poor at
affordable price
FCI (food corporation of india) is responsible for food procuring and stocking
whereas
availability by distribution is ensured by PDS

MSP ( minimum support price)


consumers: apl and bpl...
land exploited due to govt subsidies
decline of water table, land degradation as power being provided to some regions
encouraging
farmers to absorb water from aquifers leading to prblms...

IMPACT OF GLOBALISATION :
indian spices attracted foreigners and cotton was exported to british as raw mat.

Despite being an important producer of rice, cotton, rubber, tea, coffee, jute and

our agricultural products are not able to compete with the developed countries
because
of the highly subsidised agriculture in those countries.

organic farming is much in vogue today because it is practised without factory


made chemicals such as fertilisers and
pesticides. Hence, it does not affect environment in a negative manner.
