How will you prepare 0.5dm3 solution of washing soda of 0.5N and 0.25M?

Normality = (n) X (Molarity)

“n” for Na2CO3 is the no. of electrons involved by 1 mole of salt. Here, there are 2
electrons involved. So, n=2

0.5 = (2) X (Molarity)

0.5/2 = Molarity

0.25 = Molarity

It means that;

0.25 moles of Na2CO3/ Liter

(0.25 moles) X (Molecular mass of Na2CO3)

= 0.25 X 105.99

= 26.50 g/Liter

But we have to prepare 0.5 dm3 solution;

(26.50) X (0.5 dm3/1dm3)

13.25 g
