2. Synonym

-a similar word used to make the meaning clearer

3. Antonym

-an opposite word is used to suggest it’s meaning

Ex same, identical are antonyms of opposite

4. Prefixes

- to attach before a word

Head + Be= Behead

5. Suffix

-a Morpheme to the end of the word to form a derivative

Behead + ed = Beheaded
6. Root Words

-are word part that can form the basis of new words by adding prefixes and suffixes.

Ex Head is the root word of headless

7. Denotation

-true meaning of word

Ex Meaning

-what is meant by a word, text, concept, or action.

8. Connotation

-implied(indirect) meaning of word

Ex Meaning

-what the word implies
