Description

Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride (NIAGEN) is the chloride salt form of

nicotinamide riboside(NR).NR is a new form pyridine-nucleoside of
vitamin B3 that functions as a precursor to nicotinamide adenine
dinucleotide(NAD) or NAD+ .NIAGEN is generally recognized as safe
(GRAS) in the United States for use in food products. Nicotinamide
riboside chloride is a crystal form of Nicotinamide riboside (NR)
chloride. Nicotinamide riboside chloride increases NAD[+] levels and
activates SIRT1 and SIRT3, culminating in enhanced oxidative
metabolism and protection against high fat diet-induced metabolic
abnormalities. Nicotinamide riboside chloride powder is used in
dietary supplements.

Mechanism of Action

Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride (NIAGEN) is the chloride salt form of

nicotinamide riboside(NR). NR is a pyridine-nucleoside form of
vitamin B3 that functions as a precursor to nicotinamide adenine
dinucleotide or NAD+. NR blocks degeneration of surgically severed
dorsal root ganglion neurons ex vivo and protects against
noise-induced hearing loss in living mice. Nicotinamide riboside
powder prevents muscle, neural and melanocyte stem cell
senescence. Increased muscular regeneration in mice has been
observed after treatment with nicotinamide riboside, leading to
speculation that it might improve regeneration of organs such as the
liver, kidney, and heart. Nicotinamide riboside also lowers blood
glucose and fatty liver in prediabetic and type 2 diabetic models while
preventing the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Note:

23111‐00‐4 and EC number 807‐820‐5. Its IUPAC name is

1‐[(2R,3R,4S,5R)‐3,4‐dihydroxy‐5‐(hydroxymethyl)oxolan‐2

‐yl]pyridin‐1‐ium‐3‐carboxamide;chloride. The molecular

formula of nicotinamide riboside chloride is C11H15N2O5Cl, and its
molecular weight 290.7 g/mol. Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride
(NIAGEN) is the chloride salt form of nicotinamide riboside(NR).NR is
a new form pyridine-nucleoside of vitamin B3 that functions as a
precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD) or NAD+ . The
body needs NAD+ to work normally. Low levels of NAD+ can cause
