NOTES ABOUT THE VOCAL RECORDINGS

2019-2020 Large School All-State Choir

Divisi notes in a voice part are sung together or “stacked” when they are considered to be easy to
hear. If a part is hard to hear, a “tag” is used instead of a stack. When divisi is sung in its entirety,
the first voice part always precedes the second. For example, the first soprano will always be on
the recording before the second soprano. Unless otherwise noted, parts are sung completely
through.

The French, Church Slavonic and German words appear on the recordings before the appropriate
songs.

SALUT PRINTEMPS/Debussy/Choudens/Hal Leonard

Each part is sung in its entirety with stacks in Alto on ending. The long Soprano solo is only on
the Soprano 1 track. Music misprint— m. 21, b. 3 Soprano 1 and 2—should have 2 ♪ and
syllable “si” so that the word is “invisible”. Music mistake—the word “qui” is mispronounced. It
should be kee and not kwee.

KYRIE/Sköld/Walton

GLORIA/Sköld/Walton
Each part is sung in its entirety. Alto 2B is demonstrated as a tag. Piano begins m. 57, b. 1.
Page 10 is a bit tricky. For the parts to work together correctly, the alto must add a quarter rest
before beginning the repeat. An extra half rest was added in the soprano part at the end of m.55
and alto part at the beginning of m. 56

Each part was recorded in its entirety with stacks. Music misprint—Bass 1, m. 181 should be Db.
The vocal parts were recorded before we could get a clarification on what the note should be. The
G should not be there at all. We opted to record a Gb as that made sense with the piano. PLEASE
NOTE THAT BASS 1 SHOULD KEEP THE Db across the bar.
The piano for Movement 1 was recorded before the decision was made to pull the piece. If
