WHAT IS ORGANISATIONAL STRESS?

It is commonly defined as an emotional, cognitive, behavioural and


physiological response to the aggressive and harmful aspects of work,
work environment and organizational climate.
EFFECTS OF ORGANIZATIONAL STRESS:
1. HEALTH EFFECTS:
This is the stress which causes a variety of health problems.
Example: high blood pressure, upset stomach, headaches etc.

2. POOR PERFORMANCE:
Stress also can affect your ability to perform your job well.
Example: feelings of negativity, lack of enthusiasm and apathy.

3. UNMET EXPECTATIONS AND DEADLINE:


If you feel overwhelmed and exhausted, then meeting expectations or deadlines can
be difficult.
Example: workers are less likely to experience work stress when they have more
control.

4. TURNOVER:
When stress makes working for a company an unpleasant experience, employees
begin to look for new jobs or consider retirement.

SIGN OF STRESS:

 Chest pain or a pounding heart


 Getting colds more often
 Loss of change of appetite
 Doing shift work
 Job insecurity

 Low levels of recognition and reward
 Conflict with colleagues or managers
 Bullying

 Develop healthy responses
 Learn how to relax
 Take time to recharge
 Talk to your supervisor
 Get some support
