Book recommendations for Stag 2 at Oakhill Drive

It is very important that all of us start reading for pleasure. There are lots of
benefits to reading. These are just few reasons why we at Oakhill Drive Public
are promoting that all children read for pleasure at home.

 Reading helps you to relax:

It works even better than listening to music or drinking hot tea! Reading
is a great escape from the problems of everyday life and helps to calm
you down.

 Reading gives lots of information:

Reading is the best source of information, and every news
article/book/magazine fills you up with new information.

 Reading helps to stimulate your brain:

Keeping the brain stimulated via reading can keep your brain healthy and
active. This, in turn, keeps diseases like Dementia and Alzheimer’s at
bay.

 Improve your vocabulary:

Having a reading habit introduces you to newer words and phrases,
improving your vocabulary. The more you read, the more new words you
will have to create great writing.

 Improve thinking:
Reading helps you to ask better questions, view different perspectives,
expose yourself to newer forms of thinking, make connections- all of
which helps in improving your analytical thinking skills.

The list is endless. There are too many benefits to reading which makes it one of
the best sources of knowledge and entertainment.

Therefore, Mrs. Ranaweera our Teacher Librarian has put together a list of book
recommendations to ensure that you get into the habit of reading for pleasure.
