Daily Objectives III

Within 8 hours of Clinical Focus Rotation in Caring for patients with Maladaptive Patterns of
Behavior I will be able to:

1. Recall past discussions about substance abuse and how it can affect the body, in order to
reinforce one’s knowledge.

2. identify the associated risk factors for substance abuse and how can it be prevented through
utilizing the appropriate nursing interventions.

3. Distinguish the usual signs and symptoms of a person who has a substance addiction

4. Formulate a nursing care plan that focuses on treating patients with addiction on certain
substances.

5. Collaborate with the attending clinical instructor if there are certain instances that needs to be
clarified.

Aside from the harmful effects of substance abuse, it is also considered as one of the most
prominent reasons for the disruption or disintegration of a family. Addiction greatly impacts the
entire family, for they are more likely to be subjected to violence at the hands of an addict. The
danger increases whether the abuse is in a emotional, physical, or sexual form which often leads
life-long traumas to the victim.
