Chapter 1: Introduction to Fusion Payroll

Why learn Fusion Payroll???

• Fusion Cloud HCM implementations on the rise - 1500+ current Oracle HCM
cloud customers and five year Oracle target of 10000+ customers
• 150+ implementations in the last few years - Fusion Payroll is a late bloomer
among the Fusion HCM family but the product is now matured enough to
handle complex legislative requirements even for large organizations.
• Ongoing support work after implementation - Clients prefer to have long-
term support contract when it comes to Payroll module. With W2 generation,
year end closing and complex tax filing across the US, consultants always
have the opportunity to be on long-term assignments.
• High demand Fusion Payroll experts - Demand is extremely high as there is
dearth of trained Fusion Payroll functional resource. Growing consulting
opportunities with the Big 4 and other top tier implementation partners.

Chapter 3: Functional Setup Manager

Functional Setup Manager provides an end-to-end guided process for managing
your functional setup projects throughout the entire implementation lifecycle.
Using the FSM, one can perform various tasks under an implementation project.
Depending upon the type of implementation (HCM, Compensation Management or
Financials), the project tasks provide a guided flow to all the required setup areas.

The process flow:

Chapter 3: Functional Setup Manager Terminology

• Offering: An offering is the highest level grouping of Oracle Fusion Applications

functionality. Offerings are typically the starting points for configuration decisions.
They are the primary drivers of the functional setup of Oracle Fusion Applications.
Example: Workforce Deployment, Compensation Management

• Option: Each Oracle Fusion offering, in general, includes a set of core functionality
and a set of optional modules, which are called options. It is a part of an offering but
is not required for an offering to be operational.
Example: As well as core functionality, Compensation Management includes
optional functionality such as:
• Individual Compensation
• Workforce Compensation
• Total Compensation Statements

These optional functionality may not be relevant to all Oracle Fusion Application
implementations. You can selectively choose to implement only those options that
are applicable to your business requirements.

Feature: Unit of functionality that is part of an offering or option and identifies a rule for
a specific business process. You make feature selections according to business
requirements, to get the best fit with the offering.
Example:
Compensation has features such as:
Local Installation of Help
Maintain Common Reference Objects

Implementation Project: An implementation project is the list of setup tasks that are
required for implementations of specific offerings and related options. Implementation
projects are also the foundation for identifying what setup data will be exported and
imported, and in which order.

Task List: List of sequenced setup tasks required to enable business functionality

Scope: Sets the context of the task list and the setup data to export and import.

Chapter 4: Getting Started – User and role synchronization

• Synchronization of roles and users: During implementation, any existing

information about users, roles, and roles provisioned to users must be copied
from the LDAP directory to the Oracle Fusion Applications tables. To copy this
information, you use the task Run User and Roles Synchronization Process.
This task calls the Retrieve Latest LDAP Changes process.

• You can perform the task Run User and Roles Synchronization Process from
an implementation project or the Setup and Maintenance work area.

Chapter 4: Getting Started - Loading Geographies

Points to Remember

• This process to load the hierarchy could take a long

time
• Standard integration is available for some other
countries as well
• For countries where there is no delivered geography
load process, the file based load/HDL load can be used.
• The US data is provided by Vertex. If any changes are
identified, make sure to re-run the Load Geographies
process. Ideal option to periodically schedule the Load
Geographies process as per the patching schedule
(usually 3rd weekend of the month)

Chapter 4: Getting Started - Manage Features by country for Payroll

implementation

The product usage settings control the availability of payroll-related features, such as
element templates, for each country or territory. For example, you may have one country
in your enterprise using Payroll and another using Payroll Interface.

For processing payroll in Fusion MAKE SURE you have the following settings:

Chapter 4: Getting Started – Load Payroll Taxes for US

The Load Payroll Tax Information for US process is necessary to maintain tax data changes
from Vertex in the Oracle Fusion application. Vertex publishes monthly updates that
contain tax data changes (QFPT.dat file). For SaaS customers, Oracle Product Services
installs the files. The On-Demand team installs the files for the customers when they are
requested to do so by their customers. On-Premise customers install the file themselves.

Once the files are installed, all customers (including SaaS) must run the Load Payroll Tax
Information for US process to update their tax data. You must run this process as part of
the initial setup for the implementation project as well as upon a monthly basis.

Chapter 5: Common HCM Configurations – Legislative Data Groups

• A legislative data group is a boundary that can share the same set up and still comply
with the local laws.
• Used for driving legislative requirements (e.g. when a selecting a legal entity that
belongs to the US legislative data group, SSN is used for storing national identifier.
• Associated with a country, currency and cost allocation key flexfield structure.

Task: Manage Legislative Data Groups

The Cost
Allocation KFF
structure can
also be set at the
legal entity level

Chapter 5: Common HCM Configurations – Cost Allocation Key

Flexfield
• This is the accounting structure that the client uses for payroll costing
• Driven by the Chart of Accounts structure in GL
• If Financials (Fusion ERP) is being implemented, create the cost allocation KFF exactly
as the Accounting Flexfield and use the same value sets as created by the Finance
team

Task: Manage Key Flexfield

Make sure that flexfield

is deployed without
error
