Using Bring & Take Correctly

The words bring and take can be confusing sometimes. The difference between the two lies in the
direction of the action.

Here is a rule you should remember:

When the action is towards the speaker, use bring.

If the action is away from the speaker, use take.

 Bring me a cup of coffee.

 Take John a cup of coffee.

 Bring me my books please.

 Take my books to study for the test.

(Remember, if your sentence is in the past, the verbs change take/ took/ taken or bring / brought/

brought.)

 When Tom traveled to Singapore, he took with him different hats.(Past)

 Sandra brought me some flowers yesterday. (Past)

 Tomas has taken a book I was reading. (Present perfect)
