Why buy this bearing

for another 90 years?

The Self-Aligning Ball Bearing has had such an impact on PERFORMANCE COMPARISON WIT
industrial development during the latest 90 years that it is
widely considered as one of the most important industrial
products invented during the 20th century. Thanks to ingeni-
ous engineering this SKF invention offers features that are
still unmatched in the bearing world:
Self-aligning Spherical
ball bearings roller bearings
HIGH SPEED PERFORMANCE Speed
• High machine productivity performance +++ +
The SKF Self-Aligning Ball Bearing has the lowest start-up
Operational
and operational friction of all rolling bearings. In practical
friction +++ +
terms this means that the bearing has an unparalleled speed
range. Energy
savings +++ +
Relubrication
MINIMUM MAINTENANCE intervals +++ +
• Fewer stoppages
• Less grease usage Self-aligning
performance
+++ ++
• Lower life cycle cost
1)
Only a small amount of lubricant is needed to keep the SKF Initial misalignment only
Self-Aligning Ball Bearing running efficiently. Its low friction
and favourable design means extended relubrication intervals.
The sealed version is greased for life.

ACCOMMODATES MISALIGNMENT
• Lighter and more economic machines
The SKF Self-Aligning Ball Bearing can
accommodate misalignment better than
most other bearing types. Even when
wobbling (caused for instance by rotating
load) the bearing runs smoothly.
TH OTHER BEARINGS Besides the three basic decisive features, the SKF Self-Aligning Ball
Bearing also offers other important benefits to customers:

LOW VIBRATION AND NOISE LEVELS

• Silent machines
Y-bearing Deep groove Extensive comparative tests show that SKF Self-Aligning Ball Bearings
units ball bearings have the lowest vibration and noise levels because of their accurate and
smooth raceways.

++ ++ ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
• Easy to recycle and deposit
The low friction and minimal lubricant requirements save resources
++ ++ and minimise the strain on the environment. The sealed version provides
additional environmental benefits.
++ ++ SKF is one of the first multinational companies to be ISO 14001
certified. This means that environmental issues are a natural part of all

relevant activities and decisions. Customers can be confident that SKF
will always supply products that are energy efficient, environmentally
acceptable, easy to recycle and safe to deposit.

WE REDUCE FRICTION TO HELP YOU
MOVE THE WORLD FORWARD

In 1907, Sven Wingqvist invented the Self-Aligning Ball Bearing and laid the
foundation for a new company – SKF.

The company produced 2 200 bearings during the first year. Today we make
about 230 000 bearings. Every hour.

SKF is the largest bearing manufacturer in the world with a worldwide network
of 200 manufacturing and sales companies together with some 7 000 authorised
distributors. Over the years, SKF has installed more bearings than any other
manufacturer. This has given us a wealth of knowledge about bearing arrange-
ments that we gladly share with you.

Part of our leadership status is a result of allocating large resources to research

and development. Our driving force is to endeavour to learn more about bearings,
seals and applications than any other company.

Why? Because the more we know about the microscopic world of bearings and
seals, the more you can control your products and processes.

The performance of the Self-Aligning Ball Bearings is evidence of SKF’s

continuing ambition to maintain its leading position.
