Glose (or Glosa)

- Originated in Spain
- Made up of two parts, the texte (or cabeza) and the glose (or glosa) proper, which
are normally written by two different authors
- The texte or cabeza is made up of a few lines that set the theme for the entire
poem, usually a stanza from a well-known poem or poet (though you can write it
yourself if you wish)
- The glose or glosa proper is an explanation of the texte; it takes the form of an
ode and each stanza expands upon one line of the texte
- Each stanza’s line from the texte is repeated as the last line of the stanza
- Line count and rhyme scheme of the glosa can vary from that of the texte
