A FOLK HERO THROUGH DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES CHOSE BY
YOUR OWN.
Description
Checkpoint 7: Provide options for recruiting interest.
7.1 Optimize individual choice and autonomy

At the beginning of the lesson we will say to the students that all of them have
got the best qualification a 7.0 and according to their work with the task they
could confirm this mark.
Check point 7.2 Optimize relevance, value and authenticity

You have two options, choose between Music or Sport, so the students who like
music sit down in this roll and the one who like sports in the other roll, now
choose your classmates to work with at least 3 in each group. The name of this
lesson is “Being a folk hero” and at the same time choose a captain

According to your preferences on music or sports choose a leader


or a hero to complete this word web, talk in your group to choose
the person is really a hero for you three.
Description

In this first approach to the activity the students have the opportunity to choose the hero, the
persons to work with and the person who is going to be their voice to the rest of the class.
Checkpoint 7.2: Optimize relevance, value and authenticity

Vary activities and source of information.

Students to complete the word web work with your group talking about the person you chose in
order to collect information and at the same time you have the option to look for the important
aspects of this person in the web or even interview some people, and remember you chose a hero
this person has a real value for you.
Description

Here we as teachers will provide them different options or let them to choose their own way to work this task,
and at the same time they have the opportunity to talk among the group to check it is a real hero for them, to
look for the relevance this person has in the society.
DESCRIPTION
The captain or leader will divide the individual activities within the group in addition to worrying about
establishing a progress review system, where they remember the objective and its importance and are not
distracted from its purpose and at the same time this captain is the one in charge of filling the progress chart.

As teachers, each group will be monitored to see the effort and work of the students in addition to clarifying
doubts or directing the activity, making the students to feel confidence with this task.

Students will be guided to discuss the activities they are doing and if they agree with the points raised by the
teacher, this will make the students formulate their objectives explicitly or reconsider the work they are doing as
a group.
CHECK POINT 9: PROVIDE OPTIONS FOR SELF- REGULATION
9.1 PROMOTE EXPECTATIONS AND BELIEFS THAT OPTIMIZE
MOTIVATION

Students we are going to do a general review of the task in order to check your work, you are free to answer
what is the most important of your hero?, what information about this person is more interesting to share with
us?, do you feel identified by this person?

Now after you have written the text think how you are going to present this hero, you could choose among these
(role play, lecture, video, etc).
DESCRIPTION
● Heightening salience of goals and objectives

Here the teachers will pass around the groups asking them how is the task, if they have any
problem to fulfil it, this is in order to check the work.

Any person of any group has the time to show the rest their work, to make a description, to
tell the rest how they feel about this activity

The captain of each group presents the general view of his or her group.

The teacher helps the students with last minute questions and reminds them that they must choose
any member of the team to present their hero in the next class.
Description
Providing options for self-regulation

To close the task the student will have the opportunity to show their work using the way
they want.

The students within the group have to choose who is going to present the hero, how is going
to do it, in what moment he is going to present, they have to regulate it among their groups.

To low the anxiety among the students they could present it through a video, standing up in
front of the class or writing a story in instagram with the … My folk hero.

During all the task we as teachers talk with the students, giving them motivation to do the
task and to end it.
