Coronavirus lockdown could lead to 214,000 extra babies in the Philippines

According to The Guardian lockdown during covid19 has affected services such as

family planning which cause the increase of birth rate in the Philippines. Patients and medical

staff are having a hard time getting in touch with clinics which resulted to a shortage of

contraceptives. It also stated that the number of women who are unable to access family planning

increased by one fifth during lockdown in which is 3,688. Furthermore this could result to almost

1.9 million births in 2021. Dr. Rocelle Casilla in La Union province at the rural hospital said that

her patients were forced to go without protection due to shortage of supplies. UNFPA predicting

that 7 million unintended pregnancies would arise world wide as the outcome of the covid19

crisis
