BA 1001 ACCOUNTING FOR NON ACCOUNTANTS

INTERVIEW WITH THE ACCOUNTANT

Interview with the accountant is one of the course requirements of BA1001

Accounting for Non Accountants, under the advisory of Dr. Enrico Yee. This
is to learn and to know more about the accounting.

Last May 31, 2021, at exactly 9:30 am, I interviewed Mr. Ang. He is an
accountant for four (4) years and teaching in an academe for almost two (2)
years. The first question that I did asked to him was about defining and the
importance of the accounting in his own and he responded that “accounting
for him it is a bridge of communication between the business and the users
of the financial statements”.

The second question I did asked was the challenges they are facing as an
accountant. According to Mr. Niniel to be stable in the job chosen
considering that accountants can work in different organization may it be in
academe, public, private, or government. From that, alone is a hard thing to
decide. The third questions I did asked was all about how accounting can be
applied in everyday life and Mr. Niniel answer back that accounting can be
applied everyday, from the time you go outside and pats your
transportation, to buying things from businesses, to working in a company
by getting salaries, and he added that it can be applied in all things.

In the middle of the interview I asked about why financial statement should
be prepared and why is it there is two (2) preparation. Mr. Niniel did simply
answer that the preparation of financial statements is important because it
shows the summary of transaction of the business and would help us
understand the financial condition of the business. He added that there
should be a two (2) preparation of financial statement to have for the
external and internal users and etc.

The last question I did asked was the difference of being an accountant in a
private firm and teaching in an academe as an accountant since Mr. Niniel
was in the academe. He responded simply that being in the accountant in
private firm is applying what you are teaching in academe.

The interview last about a 20 minutes and the short time we have spent
talking has a lot of learning to me specifically in accounting.
