2.8 Data Analysis - model and facilitate the effective use of digital tools and resources to systematically
collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results, communicate findings, and implement
appropriate interventions to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
______________________________________________________________________________

Briefly describe the artifact and the context in which it was created. What was your individual
contribution(s)?
I developed the Data Overview for my school by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data

about my school from several sources. Most of these included student demographic data,

student achievement, student growth, and student behavior data. The data overview provides a

description of the students and teachers at Pepperell Middle, areas of strength and struggle,

and how successful PMS is at meeting goals in the School Improvement Plan. I created the

presentation to share with the School Improvement Team and administration at my school with

the intention of using data more effectively and appropriately to meet goals and see a higher

achievement rate.

Explain how this artifact demonstrates mastery of the standard/element under which it is placed.
This artifact demonstrates my ability to model and facilitate the use of digital tools and

resources to collect, analyze, and interpret student achievement data based on several

characteristics: grade level, subject, learning need, race/ethnicity, and gender. This artifact is also a

direct depiction of my ability to model and facilitate the use of digital tools and resources to

communicate the findings because it is a presentation I am going to be sharing with my School

Improvement Team and administration where will use the information presented to determine

appropriate goals and next steps to better meet the needs of the students in our school. Finally, this

artifact explains my ability to model and facilitate the use of digital tools and resources to

implement appropriate interventions because I will be meeting with others to determine how the

data shown can have a positive impact on teaching practice, instruction, and student learning and

lead to higher achievement and closing learning gaps.

What did you learn from completing this artifact? What would you do differently to improve the
quality of the artifact or the process involved in creating the artifact? (Not changing anything is
not an acceptable response.)
Completing this learning was a challenge for me because it is not something I have ever

done before or something I felt comfortable doing. In order to develop a presentation that

would be successful and lead to positive change in my school, I had to analyze data according to

several different categories and determine how instruction was impact student learning and

achievement as well as what we could do better. To improve the quality of this artifact, I would

include Georgia Milestones data for students broken down by race/ethnicity as well as a

comparison of student scores on Georgia Milestones in comparison to student subject area

grades.

How did the work that went into creating this artifact impact school improvement, faculty
development, or student learning? How can this impact be assessed?
The work that went into creating this artifact will impact school improvement and student

learning. The data I analyzed shows a break down of student scores on both math and language arts

Georgia Milestones tests for the past four years the test was given. When analyzing this data, I

found several areas of growth, but also several areas where improvements could be made. After

discussing the data with the school improvement team and administration, we will have several

student learning goals directly related to the data to help provide better learning opportunities for

our students that will lead to higher achievement and success.
