Unit Construction
Maverick I rooftop units are designed from the ground up with Cabinet
the latest features and benefits required to compete in today’s
market. The commercial rooftop design stands alone in the The sheet-metal cabinet (1) uses nothing less than 18-gauge
industry and is a testament to the quality, reliability, ease of material for structural components with an underlying coat
installation and serviceability that goes into each unit. of G90. To ensure the leak-proof integrity of these units, the
design utilizes a one-piece top with a 1/8" drip lip (4), gasket-
protected panels and screws. The Maverick I hail guard (5)
sets the standard for coil protection in the industry. Every unit
has an electro deposition baked-on powder coat finish and is
tested to withstand a rigorous 1000-hour salt spray test, per
ASTM B117.

Base Rails
Base
Anything built to last must start with the right foundation. In Figure 2: Rooftop Unit Base Assembly
this case, the foundation is 14-gauge, commercial-grade, full-
perimeter base rails (3), which integrate fork slots and rigging Supply/Return Openings
holes to save set-up time on the job site. The base pan (right) with 1-1/8" Flanges
is stamped, which forms a 1-1/8" flange around the supply and
return opening to prevent water entering the conditioned space 7
(7). The drainpan (6) is a non-corrosive polymer that is sloped
for the latest IAQ benefits. The insulation has been placed on 7 6
the underside of the basepan, removing areas that would allow
for potential moisture accumulation, which can facilitate growth
of harmful bacteria. All insulation is secured with both adhesive
and mechanical fasteners, and all edges are hidden. Each unit Non-corrosive
has been tested to U.L. 1995, ANSI 21.47 and AHRI 340-370 Drain Pan
standards. Each unit bears the U.L. and AHRI certification
labels located on the unit nameplate area (15). Contractors can
rest assured that when a Maverick I unit arrives at the job, it is
ready to go with a factory charge and quality checks. Each unit
also proudly displays the “Made in the USA” designation.

Evaporator
Inside the blower compartment, the interlaced evaporator can
also be viewed. The evaporator uses enhanced fin technology
for maximum heat transfer. The evaporator circuit uses a
thermal expansion valve to precisely control refrigerant flow
into the evaporator.
The evaporative circuit includes a thermal expansion valve
(TXV). The TXV allows for precise control of subcooling over a
broad range of operation.

Fan Motor
The condenser fan motor (35) can easily be accessed and
maintained through the compressor compartment. The
polarized plug connection allows the motor to be changed
quickly and eliminates the need to snake wires through the
unit.
Coil
The outdoor coil uses the latest enhanced fin design (36)
for the most effective method of heat transfer. The outdoor
coil is protected by optional louvered panels, which allow
unobstructed airflow while protecting the unit from both
inclement weather and vandalism.

Compartment Roof Curb
The Daikin roof curb is made for tool free assembly at the
jobsite by hinge pin connection (45) on the adjacent curb sides
which makes the assembly process quick and easy. The curb
height is 14" and is applicable for all flat roof applications.
Gasketing material is provided in the installation kit for an
airtight and water-tight seal
Figure 16: Cooling Mode Thus, when the entering air temperature to the cooling coil is
70°F the LAT of the unit will be about 70°F also but with less
moisture, lower dewpoint and drier/less humid air. The unit will
operate in the dehumidification mode until the space humidity
is satisfied.
