Dear NAME,

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, 35 million people (including 10.7 million

children) were food insecure. It is expected that this year 42 million people
(including 13 million children) may experience food insecurity. This year
more than ever we need you to join us in the fight against hunger and food
insecurity because together, we can end hunger.

September is Hunger Action Month. Hunger Action Month began in 2008

when Feeding America’s network of food banks united to mobilize the
public to fight hunger in their communities. Hunger is a community health,
school performance and economic issue and exists in every county in the
United States.

For the past seven years, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana has asked
community members to become Hunger Heroes by participating in our 30
Days Post-A-Plate Campaign to raise awareness about hunger. By sharing
images of community leaders, we hope to continue the conversation about
hunger and motivate our communities to take action.

Will you be a Hunger Hero this year?

Please share a message about hunger on the enclosed paper plate. Then,
take a photo of yourself with the plate and email it to
cmartenson@feedindiana.org by July 31. Give us a call and we can
schedule a time to take the photo for you if that is easier– (574) 232.9986
ext. 130. Photos will be posted throughout September on the Food Bank’s
Facebook page.

Hunger is a story we can end.

Thank you,
