2. Safety Requirements
Any hazards or concerns identified during site visits should be reported directly to the Subcontractor Coordinator,
Ceragon Coordinator and Smartfren PIC if impact to Smartfren Network.
The static electricity generated by the human body can damage the electrostatic sensitive components on the
circuit board, such as the large-scale integrated circuit (LIC).
The human body generates an electrostatic discharge (ESD) due to body movement, friction between the shoes
and floor, friction between clothes, and contact with plastic objects. ESD remains on the human body for a long
time.
Before touching the device or holding the boards, circuit boards, or ASICs, wear an ESD wrist strap and make sure
that it is properly grounded. This can prevent the sensitive components from being damaged by the static
electricity on the human body.
Be sure to:
• Wear the required personal protective equipment necessary for the job:
• Wear helmet at all times!
• Wear harness at all times when working at heights!
• Proper shoes!
• Proper weights carrying!
• Always maintain 3 points of contact!
• Always connect harness to lifeline!

Working at Heights is any work above ground level where there is risk of personal injury through falling or a risk to
people below the work site being injured by objects falling.
3. Antenna Installation
3.1. Antenna Assembly
- Assembly procedure
- Dimensions
• Before installing any antenna always read, understand and follow the assembly and installation
instructions contained in the bulletin delivered with the antenna
• Confirm the dimensions and the assembled antenna weight before hoisting
• Correct antenna assembly is necessary to guarantee long term stability throughout its operational life. Pay
special attention to achieving the correct arrangement and tightening of all bolt fasteners, follow strictly the
instructions provided with the equipment in the form of drawings and bulletins.
• Torque data for each type of bolt fastener is provided by the antenna manufacturer, use it!

• Become familiar with the proper application of greases, lubricants and thread locking compounds (i.e.
LOCTITE) that are variously used on a number of CERAGON components such as gaskets and bolted fasteners
for Antenna, ODU, Branching Box and Waveguide Assemblies. Full instructions are provided with each
assembly bulletin. Apply as instructed, use only where stated.
Thread Assemblies
3. Allow disassembly
Why do threaded assemblies fail? Clamp force is not maintained & threaded assemblies loosen because of:
Disassembly is not always possible, because in certain conditions the nut and bolt can seize together. Seizing can
lead to:
• Dual polarized feed horn for some UHX antennas have asymmetrical radiation patterns that produce a
lower side lobe on one side.

• In the example ANDREW feed horn shown here the ‘better side’ is the side marked in red, which, when
installed to the left or right can reduce any potential interference at that side.
• If a ‘better side’ has been specified ensure the feed horn has been correctly orientated before beginning to
align the antenna.
Figure. Changing the Antenna Offset from Left to Right (Small Size Antenna)
• Mount the end of the antenna side strut parallel to the antenna direction
• The deviation angle should be within ≤ 25o in any direction against tower (refer to proper
mounting of side strut)
• Consider the “offset” of the antenna in order to position the side strut.
1. Mount the strut in the same tower leg, but change the antenna offset (from left to right/reverse).
2. Mount the strut in adjacent tower leg, but don’t change the antenna offset.
The antennas with diameter 3.0m and 3.7m need double side struts to be installed. The angle between side struts
and antenna boresight should be maximum 25O in order the side struts have the maximum strength.
3.4. Waveguide
Waveguide maximum allowable bending radiuses are shown in the Figure below. It is mandatory that these
standards are adhered to or to precise manufacturer’s specifications.
Flexible Waveguide lengths for Ceragon IP10G RFU-HP and RFU-C are listed in the below table. Bends to the
flexible waveguide must not exceed manufacturer’s specification in figure 8.2 for any waveguide connection point.
Waveguides must be installed in protected locations wherever possible and supported appropriately.
Pole mount bracket should be installed in correct way and completed with lock nuts. The way to install the pole
mount bracket on the tubular tower is different with on the angular tower.

6. Connector
6.1. Power Connector
6.1.1. IP-20G Power Connector
Important! Before connecting the power supply to the IP-20G unit, you must verify that the positive pole in the
external power supply is grounded! Power supply grounding should be in according with the following figure:
Important! Make sure to use a circuit breaker to protect the circuit from damage by short or overload. In a building
installation, the circuit breaker shall be readily accessible and incorporated external to the equipment. The maximum
rating of the overcurrent protection shall be 10 Amp, while the maximum current rating is 5 Amp.
Caution! In a 1RU chassis, the Fans unit receives its power from the TCC. Therefore, to avoid over temperature in
the chassis, do not power up the 1RU unit unless both the TCC and Fans unit are installed in the chassis.
Important! Before connecting the power supply to the PDC, you must verify that the positive pole in the external
power supply is grounded!
1RU units can use a single-feed or dual-feed PDC. The power cable connector is included with the PDC.
The following power cables are available for use with a 1RU IP-20N unit:

In case of using the L-type connector, so we need the slim tools to attach the vulcanized/rubber and PVC tapes.
Smartfren wants to ensure the connector installation safe enough by applying Waterproof Standard: 1 layer
isolation tape, 3 layers rubber tape, 3 layers isolation tape, tie both end of tape. See the figure below:
Important Note! To ensure proper grounding, the RJ-45 plug must be shielded, with a crimping tail.
Note: Cord colors should be matched to the same pins on both ends of the cable.
6. Trim all wires to the same length. About 12 mm on the left should be exposed from the inner sheath.
7. Separate the wires and place the twisted shield between the separated wires.
8. Insert the wires into the RJ45 plug. The sheath of the Ethernet cable should extend into the plug by about
13 mm and held in place by the crimp.

you should restore the backed up configuration.
To ensure that the IP-20N maintains a proper operating temperature, you must ensure that the air flow is
unimpeded:
• Make sure to install the chassis level in the rack, with at least 5 cm clearance between both sides of the
chassis and the walls or other obstacles.
• Make sure the sections of the rack that are aligned with the chassis are open so as to allow air flow to and
from the chassis.
