Electric Supercars
Electric Supercars
The Tesla Roadster is a battery electric vehicle (BEV) sports car produced
by the electric car firm Tesla Motors in California.
The Roadster was the first highway-capable all-electric vehicle in serial
production available in the United States. Since 2008 Tesla has sold more
than 2,100 Roadsters in 31 countries through December 2011.[3] Tesla
began producing right-hand-drive Roadsters in early 2010 for the British
Isles, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.[4] The Roadster has a
base price of US$109,000 in the United States, and A$191,888 in Australia.
According to the U.S. EPA, the Roadster can travel 244 miles (393 km) on a
single charge of its lithium-ion battery pack, and can accelerate from 0 to 60
mph (0 to 97 km/h) in 3.7 or 3.9 seconds depending on the model.

Australia’s first locally designed and manufactured electric supercar will go on sale for
less than $200,000 in January (2012).
The Varley EVR450 has been developed in just nine months by Varley Electric
Vehicles, the Brisbane-based division of the Varley Group, a 125-year-old privately
owned Australian company.
Varley says the EVR450 will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds – making it
just one-tenth slower than the $206,188 Tesla Roadster – and will reach an
electronically limited top speed of 200km/h.
Varley is yet to confirm the EVR450’s powertrain details, however we understand the
supercar will be powered by two locally sourced Ultramotive electric motors, each
producing 150kW and 522Nm, leading to a combined maximum output of 300kW
of power and an almighty 1044Nm of torque.
Despite the awesome power, Varley says its lithium-ion battery-powered electric
supercar will have a range of 150km that can be extended to 300km when optioned
with the range-extension package.

SuperLite Coupe
This car is based on the ‘SuperLite Coupe’ chassis/body kit from SuperLite
Cars. SuperLite Cars are base in Clinton, Michigan in the US.

The complete chassis/body kit comes at a cost of $44,000 without options.
One option is $1,850 for the handbrake kit.
RIMAC CONCEPT_ONE
Croatia has a supercar: it is the Rimac Concept One, the all-
electric brainchild of 23 year-old entrepreneur Mate Rimac.
To build the Concept_One, Rimac Automobili recruited a
group of ex-Pininfarina engineers and designer Adriano
Mudri to its Zagreb headquarters, tasked with creating what it
describes as the world's first electric supercar.
Power for the Concept_One is provided by four electric
motors - two at each axle - delivering 800kW and 3800Nm of
torque. Energy is provided by a sizeable 92kWh battery
pack…
…At 1650kg, it's lighter than the Bugatti Veyron and heavier
than the Pagani Huayra - two of its more obvious rivals for
outright power.
With a 0-100km/h time of 2.8 seconds, it's a hair slower
than the former (2.46), and a touch quicker than the latter
(3.2).
Top speed is listed at 305km/h - not shabby, but well short
of the Veyron's 408km/h and the Huayra's 370km/h limits.
Rimac hasn't revealed pricing for the Concept_One, but with
only 88 units planned, odds are good that it won't take long
to sell.
The Li-Ion Inizio holds the distinction of being one of the first
all-electric supercars. It can hit speed up to 274km/h and
with a range of 400km. Now it’s going into production and
can be yours for $US139,000.
Li-Ion motors, the North Carolina-based electric automaker,
won $US2.5 million in the the 2010 Automotive X-Prize for
their work on their Wave II vehicle. Now, according to
Gizmag, they’re using the money to bring the Wave II and
the Inzio to market. The Inizio has three models for sale at
$US139,000, $US189,000 and $US249,000, with the
fastest Inizio model going from 0-100 in 3.4 seconds. It uses
12 batteries, comes equipped with two motors and charges
in eight hours.
The Inizio's
powered by lithium-
ion batteries which
generate a power
output of more than
40kW (and a
potential upgrade
up to 96.7kW), with
an electric motor
delivering 145kW.
That gives it a
0-to-60 time of just
3.4 seconds.
A 3 cylinder 220bhp 1.5L petrol engine drives the rear wheels and 129bhp
electric motor drives the front wheels.
RWD dual electric traction motors- total 959 ft-lbs torque, 403hp(301kW).
With mid-mounted 22kWh lithium-ion battery pack (A123).
Range-extending turbocharged 4cyl. 2.0 litre, 220hp petrol engine/generator
(175kW) with direct connection to the wheels.
Mercedes-AMG has announced the SLS AMG E-Cell that was confirmed for
production in Detroit in January will be available in 2013.
