Title : “THE USE OF AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT IN

BAGUIO CENTRAL SCHOOL”

This research study focused on the use of authentic assessment in Baguio

Central School, Division of Baguio City. The respondents were sixty one primary

teachers and thirty one intermediate teachers or a total of ninety two teachers.

The descriptive research design was used with the questionnaire-checklist as the

main instrument in gathering the data needed in this study. Based from the

gathered observations from the respondents, the findings are the following: the

different types of authentic assessment were sometimes used by the teachers;

use of authentic assessment had great effect; and the degree of seriousness of

the challenges met by teachers in using authentic assessment were moderately

serious. The conclusions drawn are the following: the teachers must use

authentic assessments complemented by traditional assessment in evaluating

and monitoring the learning progress or stock knowledge of their learners; the

use of authentic assessment has significantly helped in the holistic assessment

of the learners’ learning outcomes, and there is a degree of seriousness regarding

the challenges met by the teachers in using authentic assessment that needs to

be properly addressed.
