Verbal means of communication are the most critical for a Special Operation leader to run an

organization in combat or on staff effectively. Verbal communication promotes the connection

of activities to turn the team into a military staff or squadron. Similarly, verbal communication
ensures the best military advice to civilian leadership; in that case, it requires persuasions that
enhance the best military advice. Consequently, verbal communication allows a Special
Operation leader to convince decision-makers to present the best action that an operation
requires. On the other hand, written communication is the weakest means of communication;
power points and emails could diminish communication between those led and the leader.
Accordingly, power points could create the illusion of understanding and control that affects
decision-making.

The lesson taken from the communication lesson is that communication is crucial for Special
Operation leaders. Different means of communication will only support leaders if used skillfully;
otherwise, neglect and misunderstanding of information could occur. Similarly, ineffective
communication tools could cause poor leadership practices. Therefore, leaders should identify
the paradox of communication tools and implement strategies that help them improve their
communication skills; they should practice regularly to improve communication skills.

I interact daily with is the Field grade of office, at level 0-5; the work of 0-5s includes
commanding a first attack submarine, aviation squadron, and major shore installation.

Order management is crucial for a successful mission. During a submarine attack, I had to write
an email about the attack to the Assistant Secretary of defense and wait for feedback. Also, I
had to organize the troop using the information and instruction using the hierarchical structure.
The organizational system helped filter the information to the soldiers; I conveyed the
information through verbal communication to ensure all troops were ready for the operation.
