The above illustration gives us understanding that towards 2012 except in kerala we could not
see a reducing rate of number of suicides. And over half of the decade, Maharashtra topped the
list with more number of suicides followed by west Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. However,
Tamil nadu, during second half of the decade has attained this position and is currently the top
with most number of suicides.
Let us now look into the gender perspective, below chart shows us that most males have
suicided over the period than females. We could see that the total number of suicides are more
with males than females.
Examining the causes of suicides gives us that family problems are the major reason why people
have suicide in the decade. However next to causes, education upto primary also topped the
number of suicide cases registered.

However, we could see that from the first chart we have Female population attempting suicide
in the top few states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh etc.
Considering age of people attempting suicide, we could see upon recorded known entries, age
group of 15-29 and 30-44 years are most prone to attempt suicide. These are as compared to
the cause of suicide which is family income problems and education respectively.
Upon analyzing the reason for suicide, we could see the below graph showing hanging is the
major reason followed by consuming insecticide which shows farmer suicides.
For male, we could see the below trend as male suicides happened by consuming insecticide and
other poisons. But above female trend shows us fire or self immolation is more prevalent
method of choice.
