Ratios in Right Triangles Day2 Final2.notebook
1.1 (cont'd) Trigonometric Ratios in Right Triangles (Day 2)
finding an unknown angle
- use the inverse trig ratio to find the angle
e.g. sin A = 0.567 - to find the angle, use the 2nd or SHIFT
button, followed by SIN, COS or TAN and
A = sin-1(0.567)
the number (ratio)
Ex. 1. Find the angle:
a) sin B = 0.427 b) cos C = 0.058
c) tan F = 1.255 d) sin A = 1.255
Ex. 2. Find the unknown angle:

Ex. 4. An airplane is flying at an altitude of 4200m and is preparing for
its final descent to the airport. The horizontal distance from the plane
to the runway is 9km.
a) What is the airplane's angle of descent (angle of depression)?
b) What is the distance for the plane to the runway (through the air)?
