TASK: PROJECT (GROUP) (12.5%)

Introduction

You were recently being awarded a new construction project of “Proposed development of 200 units
of two-storey terrace house” by a client. You were requested by the client to provide a preliminary
risk assessment report prior to the commencement of the construction, and recommend the
appropriate risk controls to ensure the safety and health of workers while performing their works, and
further prevent an accident. Your report should be in accordance with the HIRARC guideline.

Topics (each group shall be given one topic):

 Site clearing, inc setting up site office

 Excavation
 Piling work
 Demolition work
 Electrical work
 Concrete work & finishing
 Mechanical plant & machinery
 Lifting operations
 Confined space work
 Welding
 Road work
 Roof work
 Masonry work

Instruction
1. This task should be executed in group.
2. Content of the report:
- Introduction
- Flow chart of the activities involved in in the activities
- HIRARC table
- Discussion on HIRARC table
3. The report should be submitted in Week 14.
4. Presentation on week 13/14.

Assessment criteria (12.5%)

 Report (project criteria & HIRARC table) – 10%

 Report (team/project management & discussion) – 5%
 Presentation – 2.5%
