The mixture shall be placed ata temperature of between 120 to 165 degrees Celeius. ) Laying Using Bitumen Distibutors, the spreading operation shall be such that it produces a finished surface that is to line and levelas per specifications without segregation and dragging. The underlying course shall dry and in suitable condition before placement fand the weather must be favourable ©) Compaction This shall commence immediately after spreading with rollers and it shall be thorough and uniform with each layer being rolled when the mixture isin sucha condition that rolling will not eause undue displacement or shoving. Prior 10 commencement of works, a contol strip shall beset establish the number of passes required 1 achieve the specified compaction for this layer 6 Joints and Shaping Edges ‘All jointing shall be as per the specifications and all placing shall be such that itis 3 ‘continuous as possible. ll ouside edges of pavement shall be cael trimmed to proper alignment and such edges shall be beveled while sill hot and thoroughly ‘compacted. OF importance to note is that, longitudinal joints shall be rolled diretly behind the paving operation. The first lane shall be plaged true to lise and level and have an approximately level face, The mixture placed in the abuting Ine shall then be lightly crowded against the face of the previously placed lane. The paver shall be positioned to spread material overlapping the jot lace by 20-30mm, Application of Tack Coat ‘Afer laying of the Asphalt concrete binder cours, the surface shall, once prpared as earlier ‘described for the base courséand immediately before spreading of the Asphalt concrete ‘wearing couse, be applied a binding course of Tack coat. ‘The tack coat shall be K1-60 applied at arate of 0.8K with sufficient tine before laying the bituminuous mixture as per the specifications.
