In this set of materials both reading and listening discuss how were used the great structures of Chaco

Canyon in New Mexico. The article mentions that they are massive stones buildings and they had a lot of
rooms. Then, the archaeologists claim 3 theories that in the lecture the professor disagrees.

The first theory that the reading establishes is that the buildings are used as residential houses, where a
lot of people could live in. Nevertheless, the professor argues that is not possible because these
constructions didn’t have any fireplaces. Furthermore, this fact casts doubt that they have been
residences.

The second theory that the statement puts forth is that the Chaco structure were used to store food
supplies. However, the lecture claims that inside the constructions didn´t have any maize containers,
then it is impossible that these structures were used to store food.
