Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

To complete my associate degree in Early Childhood Education, I must pass the

Praxis Core Exam. This is one of the major requirements of receiving a degree in this

program. For me to get accepted in NSC for my bachelor’s degree, I must first complete

the core exams in writing, reading, and math. The passing score for the writing exam is

162. The passing score for the reading exam is 156. The passing score for the math exam

is 150. These scores are based off the requirements for the state of Nevada.

Exam Preparation

I have not yet taken the actual Praxis Core Exams. I am preparing for the real

exams by doing the practice questions on ETS and also by using Praxis prep websites. I

currently have a study made up on Khan Academy. I am studying for the exams 2-3 times

a week by doing practice problems and quizzes on the website. I have read over all of the

requirements of the exams and working on studying hard for the actual exam.

Exam Results

In Math, I scored in the 77% range, which means that I am borderline for passing

the Math section when I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Reading, I scored in the

43% range, which means that I need significant improvement in the reading section

before I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Writing, I scored in the 70% range, which

means that I am borderline for passing the writing section when I take the official Praxis

Core Exam.
Future Exam Preparation

To further prepare myself to pass the Praxis Core Exam, I need to keep to my

study plan on Khan Academy. I believe that I also should look into a tutor to further help

me in my problem areas. I should focus more on reading a little less on the math and

writing for now. The reading is where I need the most improvement, so I feel as though I

should focus on my reading comprehension more in depth instead of just the surface. I

also am going to be looking into other Praxis Exam prep websites to hopefully getting a

better understanding as to what is really on the Core Exams.
