A fixed voltage which simulates an airspeed, determined by the aircraft type, is provided to the autopilot for gain scheduling purposes. A monitor internal to the KDC 381, monitors the servo loop following error and malfunctions of the power supply. These status conditions are transmitted to the KCP 320 prior to altitude hold engagement. 1.6.9.2 Technical Characteristics CHARACTERISTICS: Size: ARI SATR (modified) Weight: 4.5 Ibs, (2.05 Ke) Mounting: Rigid-Modified ARINC Rack Mating Connector: MS 5116F16-26-8 ‘TSO Compliance: TSO Coe, C52a DO-138 Environmental AAOAAAEXXXXX Categories: Power Inputs 421VDC at 1.0 amp surge, 300 ma steady state 26VAC, 400Hz Sine wave at 20 ma rms Signal Inputs ALT Engage =Ground (Pin U) PFT Engage = +28VDC (Pin R) PFT Disengage = Ground Signal Outputs: Ah = 25 + 2, Smv/{t Positive above reference) h = 60 + 6 mv/Ips (Positive during climb) IAS = 15VDC to +15VDC (Strapped to a fixed voltage) ALT Monitor = Ground (Pin ¥) ALT Monitor Invalid = Open Rev. 1, October, 1974 Page 1-19 1,6,10 1.6.10, 1 Page 1-20 RING EES 0 FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM KVN 395 Vertical Navigation Computer Description ‘The KVN 395 Vertical Navigation Computer is an internally lighted 3 inch ATI panel mounted instrument that serves as an altitude pre-selector, an-altitude alerter, and an enroute and approach vertical guidance unit. Altitudes from sea level to 49, 900 feet may be preselected in increments of 100 feet. ‘Automatic capture of the selected altitude may be accomplished when the "ALT ARM" push button has been depressed, Minimum Descent Altitude (MDA) warning may also be annunciated if desired. Altitude alerting is provided with visual and aural warnings per FAR 91,51, The visual warning lamp is controlled by an automatic light dimming circuit that provides sufficient intensity under all cockpit lighting conditions. Enroute or approach vertical guidance to a specific altitude over an RNAV waypoint may be easily set up and computed within the KVN 395, The computed information is displayed by means of a meter movement in the right hand side of the KCI 310 Flight Director Indicator. Before coupling to "VNAV", the meter displays the ascending or descending Might path angle to the selected altitude fat the waypoint Once the "VNAV CPLD! pushbutton is depressed the flight path track angle is stored, and the meter shows deviation from this path, The VNAV may be coupled to the Flight Director and the Autopilot, and automatic altitude capture may be performed as described above in preselecting altitudes. A distance bias knob is also provided on the KVN 395. It allows the pilot to reach the selected altitude by as much as 30 miles before reaching the RNAV waypoint. ‘Technical Characteristics ACRES Nominal (8.3 x 8.3 x 25, 57 centimeters) Weight: 3.1 Ibs. This information is transmitted to the KAC 325 Autopilot Computer for yaw stabilization. ‘Technical Characteristics Size: 2.8 x 2,0 x 1,8 inches nominal (1.1.x 5, 1x 4.6 centimeters) Weight: 0,9 Ibs, (, 41 Kg) ‘Mounting: Rigid with three #6 screws (align with aircraft yaw axis) Mating Connector: KPN 030-2160-00 ‘TSO Compliance: TSO C3b Power Inputs: 26VAC 400H2. It presents a plan view of the aircraft with respect to magnetic north, selected heading, selected course, and automatic bearing of the ADF/RMI station selected. Heading, selected heading, selected course, and the ADF or RMI station bearing are read against a servo driven compass card. The servo drive electronics for the compass servo loop and ADF/RMI servo loop are contained within the indicator, Provisions have also been made for remote positioning of the selected course and selected heading. ‘The amplifiers for these drives are also self-contained. Meter movements display glideslope deviation, course deviation, To-From indication, and operate warning flags or shutters that monitor compass, navigation and glideslope valid signals. In addition the unit has dual three digit numerical readouts located at the top of the front bezel. The left hand readout displays RNAV waypoint distance (in nautical miles), The right hand readout displays ground speed (in knots) or time to RNAV waypoint (in minutes) at the pilots option by depressing the push button located to the right of the readout. Pressing the push button will cause the readout to alternately display ground speed "KTS" or time to station "MIN", ‘This information (KTS & MIN) is annunciated by a three position indicator located between the two readouts, This indicator will automatically display "FT" (feet) whenever the aircraft's radar altimeter senses an altitude of less than 1, 250 feet, In this state the right hand readout will display three dashes. These dashes will remain in the readout whenever the aircraft is between 1, 000 and 1, 250 feet inclusively. Below one thousand feet the readout will display the radar altimeter sensed altitude (in feet), Both readouts are equipped with a lamp test function, Depressing the push button and holding it down will cause each digit of both readouts to display a figure eight and light the decimal point in the left readout {used to indicate tenths of a nautical mile), ‘The brightness of the readout with respect to the cockpit ambient lighting is automatically controlled by a photocell located to the left of the left hand readout, All data displayed by the readouts is obtained from the KDA 335, 1,6,12.2 Technical Characteristics 5.5 pounds (2. 5K) Front mounting with four #6 black fathead screws per ARINC ATI4 ‘Mating Connector: MS3116F24-61S MS3116F 16-265 ‘TSO Compliance TSO C52a and TSO C8e Rev, 1, October, 1974 Page 1-23,
