Subject: New Fishing Regulations

From: SCDNR Director

Dear SCDNR Officer,

My name is Kenneth Caldwell, and I am the Director of the SCDNR. I hope that this email finds
you doing well. You have been doing a great job in the field enforcing the new fishing laws.
There are many new sections of rivers that are single hook only and catch and release. A
problem that we have been seeing is people fishing with multiple hooks and keeping every
trout they catch. Also, fisherman that fish from the bank are catching fish and putting them in
their cars immediately. This is not a sustainable practice and if it continues, the trout
population within certain rivers will drastically decrease.
To stop this issue, we have proposed a few ideas to help you do your job. If you see someone
putting fish inside of their car, you can fine them no questions ask. If people do not read the
signs and fish illegally, it will be your job to catch them and fine them. This job is very
important to the ecology of our rivers. We are trying to maintain a healthy trout population
and we need everyone to do their part. By stopping these trout poachers, you are having a
direct role in saving the trout population and you are succeeding in your job. We will send out
a memo on the specifics of the new laws and how to enforce them.

If you have any problems, please reach out to me at 803-333-4444

Thank You,
Kenneth Caldwell
