select‌‌and‌‌evaluate‌‌digital‌‌tools‌‌and‌‌resources‌‌for‌‌accuracy,‌‌suitability,‌‌and‌‌compatibility‌‌with‌‌the‌‌school‌‌
technology‌‌infrastructure.‌  ‌

Briefly‌‌describe‌‌the‌‌artifact‌‌and‌‌the‌‌context‌‌in‌‌which‌‌it‌‌was‌‌created.‌‌What‌‌was‌‌your‌‌individual‌‌
contribution(s)?‌‌   ‌
The‌‌Evaluating‌‌Emerging‌‌Technologies‌‌Project‌‌I‌‌completed‌‌described‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌(AR)‌‌and‌‌

its‌‌purpose‌‌in‌‌the‌‌classroom.‌‌In‌‌this‌‌project,‌‌I‌‌shared‌‌how‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌supports‌‌the‌‌vision‌‌

for‌‌technology‌‌in‌‌my‌‌school‌‌district,‌‌how‌‌to‌‌provide‌‌equitable‌‌access,‌‌and‌‌what‌‌would‌‌be‌‌

needed‌‌to‌‌get‌‌this‌‌tool‌‌into‌‌classrooms.‌‌Through‌‌completing‌‌this‌‌project,‌‌I‌‌found‌‌how‌‌to‌‌use‌‌AR‌‌

to‌‌support‌‌student‌‌learning‌‌at‌‌a‌‌variety‌‌of‌‌levels,‌‌provide‌‌differentiation,‌‌and‌‌encourage‌‌students‌‌

to‌‌take‌‌ownership‌‌of‌‌their‌‌learning‌‌by‌‌keeping‌‌them‌‌engaged‌‌and‌‌motivated.‌‌I‌‌also‌‌learned‌‌

about‌‌several‌‌sources‌‌that‌‌provide‌‌funding‌‌for‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌devices‌‌and‌‌how‌‌to‌‌apply‌‌for‌

these‌‌grants‌‌to‌‌get‌‌access‌‌to‌‌them‌‌in‌‌my‌‌district.‌  ‌

 ‌
Explain‌‌how‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌demonstrates‌‌mastery‌‌of‌‌the‌‌standard/element‌‌under‌‌which‌‌it‌‌is‌‌placed.‌‌   ‌
Choosing‌‌to‌‌complete‌‌my‌‌evaluating‌‌emerging‌‌technologies‌‌project‌‌about‌‌augmented‌‌

reality‌‌was‌‌due‌‌to‌‌my‌c‌ ollaboration‌‌‌with‌‌teachers‌‌and‌‌administrators‌‌in‌‌my‌‌school‌‌and‌‌their‌‌

interest‌‌in‌‌how‌‌this‌‌tool‌‌could‌‌be‌‌used‌‌in‌‌our‌‌classrooms.‌‌This‌‌tool‌‌was‌‌one‌‌that‌‌most‌‌of‌‌the‌‌

teachers‌‌I‌‌talked‌‌to‌‌were‌‌interested‌‌in,‌‌so‌‌I‌‌chose‌‌to‌s‌ elect‌‌and‌‌evaluate‌‌‌this‌‌digital‌‌tool‌‌to‌‌

determine‌‌if‌‌it‌‌would‌‌be‌‌something‌‌we‌‌could‌‌use‌‌and‌‌how‌‌we‌‌could‌‌get‌‌it‌‌into‌‌our‌‌school.‌‌This‌‌

tool‌‌would‌‌meet‌‌Floyd‌‌County‌‌Schools‌‌mission‌‌of‌‌implementing‌‌low-cost,‌‌high-value‌‌solutions‌‌

that‌‌help‌‌all‌‌succeed.‌‌A
‌ ugmented‌‌Reality‌‌devices‌a‌ ccurately‌‌‌fit‌‌this‌‌mission‌‌because‌‌there‌‌are‌‌

several‌‌grants‌‌that‌‌make‌‌them‌‌low-cost,‌‌and‌‌AR‌s‌ uits‌‌t‌ he‌‌needs‌‌and‌‌is‌c‌ ompatible‌‌‌because‌‌it‌‌

provides‌‌students‌‌with‌‌high-value‌‌methods‌‌of‌‌learning‌‌that‌‌allow‌‌them‌‌to‌‌interact‌‌with‌‌content‌‌

standards‌‌in‌‌new‌‌ways.‌‌   ‌

What‌‌did‌‌you‌‌learn‌‌from‌‌completing‌‌this‌‌artifact?‌‌What‌‌would‌‌you‌‌do‌‌differently‌‌to‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌
quality‌‌of‌‌the‌‌artifact‌‌or‌‌the‌‌process‌‌involved‌‌in‌‌creating‌‌the‌‌artifact?‌‌(Not‌‌changing‌‌anything‌‌is‌n
‌ ot‌‌
an‌‌acceptable‌‌response.)‌  ‌
By‌‌completing‌‌this‌‌artifact,‌‌I‌‌learned‌‌how‌‌to‌‌research‌‌an‌‌emerging‌‌technology,‌‌collaborate‌‌with‌‌

teachers‌‌and‌‌administrators‌‌about‌‌their‌‌interest‌‌in‌‌using‌‌and‌‌the‌‌possibility‌‌of‌‌implementing‌‌a‌‌new‌‌

tool,‌‌and‌‌how‌‌to‌‌find‌‌technologies‌‌that‌‌suit‌‌the‌‌needs‌‌and‌‌meet‌‌the‌‌mission‌‌of‌‌our‌‌schools‌‌

technology‌‌department.‌‌To‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌quality‌‌of‌‌this‌‌artifact,‌‌I‌‌would‌‌include‌‌sample‌‌AR‌‌learning‌‌

experiences,‌‌compare‌‌it‌‌to‌‌virtual‌‌reality,‌‌and‌‌present‌‌it‌‌to‌‌the‌‌technology‌‌department‌‌to‌‌collaborate‌‌

on‌‌how‌‌to‌‌get‌‌this‌‌tool‌‌in‌‌our‌‌classrooms.‌‌Currently,‌‌we‌‌have‌‌virtual‌‌reality‌‌headsets‌‌available,‌‌but‌‌

not‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌headsets.‌‌By‌‌sharing‌‌this‌‌with‌‌the‌‌technology‌‌department‌‌and‌‌being‌‌able‌‌to‌‌

explain‌‌the‌‌difference‌‌in‌‌the‌‌two‌‌technologies,‌‌we‌‌may‌‌have‌‌a‌‌greater‌‌opportunity‌‌to‌‌make‌‌this‌‌type‌‌

of‌‌technology‌‌available‌‌for‌‌our‌‌teachers‌‌to‌‌use.‌  ‌

 ‌
How‌‌did‌‌the‌‌work‌‌that‌‌went‌‌into‌‌creating‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌impact‌‌school‌‌improvement,‌‌faculty‌‌
development,‌‌or‌‌student‌‌learning?‌‌How‌‌can‌‌this‌‌impact‌‌be‌‌assessed?‌  ‌
The‌‌work‌‌that‌‌went‌‌into‌‌creating‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌would‌‌have‌‌an‌‌impact‌‌on‌‌student‌‌learning‌‌by‌‌

providing‌‌students‌‌with‌‌the‌‌opportunity‌‌to‌‌learn‌‌in‌‌new‌‌ways‌‌that‌‌are‌‌relevant,‌‌engaging,‌‌and‌‌

motivating.‌‌By‌‌providing‌‌students‌‌with‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌learning‌‌experiences,‌‌we‌‌would‌‌have‌‌the‌‌

opportunity‌‌to‌‌allow‌‌them‌‌to‌‌experience‌‌the‌‌content‌‌rather‌‌than‌‌just‌‌providing‌‌traditional‌‌learning‌‌

experiences.‌‌This‌‌would‌‌also‌‌impact‌‌faculty‌‌development‌‌because‌‌teachers‌‌would‌‌need‌‌to‌‌learn‌‌how‌‌

to‌‌use‌‌the‌‌augmented‌‌reality‌‌devices‌‌before‌‌implementing‌‌them‌‌in‌‌their‌‌teaching‌‌practice.‌  ‌
