The‌‌coaching‌‌journal‌‌was‌‌developed‌‌throughout‌‌my‌‌coaching‌‌sessions‌‌with‌‌a‌‌colleague‌‌to‌‌ 

describe‌‌what‌‌I‌‌did‌‌to‌‌prepare‌‌myself‌‌for‌‌coaching‌‌someone‌‌for‌‌the‌‌first‌‌time,‌‌what‌‌we‌‌did‌‌through‌‌ 

each‌‌session,‌‌and‌‌a‌‌reflection‌‌of‌‌my‌‌experience.‌‌I‌‌worked‌‌with‌‌this‌‌colleague‌‌to‌‌identify‌‌the‌‌current‌‌ 

reality‌‌in‌‌his‌‌classroom‌‌using‌‌the‌‌scoring‌‌guide‌‌from‌‌The‌‌Impact‌‌Cycle‌‌by‌‌Jim‌‌Knight.‌‌Then,‌‌I‌‌worked‌‌ 

with‌‌him‌‌to‌‌develop‌‌a‌‌goal‌‌that‌‌he‌‌would‌‌like‌‌to‌‌reach‌‌with‌‌his‌‌students.‌‌Coaching‌‌session‌‌2 ‌‌

happened‌‌after‌‌we‌‌began‌‌working‌‌from‌‌home‌‌during‌‌the‌‌pandemic‌‌so‌‌I‌‌got‌‌to‌‌get‌‌a‌‌different‌‌picture‌‌ 

of‌‌coaching‌‌someone‌‌without‌‌being‌‌face-to-face‌‌with‌‌them.‌‌I‌‌shared‌‌a‌‌screencast‌‌with‌‌him‌‌that‌‌ 

would‌‌allow‌‌him‌‌to‌‌work‌‌through‌‌a‌‌checklist‌‌that‌‌would‌‌help‌‌him‌‌reach‌‌his‌‌goal‌‌of‌‌encouraging‌‌ 

higher‌‌student‌‌engagement.‌‌Since‌‌our‌‌school‌‌system‌‌changed‌‌the‌‌way‌‌we‌‌were‌‌teaching‌‌from‌‌home,‌‌ 

my‌‌colleague‌‌did‌‌not‌‌get‌‌to‌‌implement‌‌the‌‌lesson‌‌he‌‌originally‌‌planned‌‌for‌‌his‌‌students‌‌so‌‌our‌‌final‌‌ 

session‌‌focused‌‌on‌‌tools‌‌that‌‌would‌‌allow‌‌him‌‌to‌‌keep‌‌an‌‌open‌‌line‌‌of‌‌communication‌‌between‌‌him‌‌ 

and‌‌his‌‌students‌‌as‌‌we‌‌transitioned‌‌to‌‌a‌‌new‌‌learning‌‌platform.‌‌Although‌‌this‌‌was‌‌a‌‌new‌‌learning‌‌ 

opportunity‌‌for‌‌me,‌‌I‌‌was‌‌not‌‌prepared‌‌for‌‌the‌‌challenges‌‌I‌‌would‌‌have‌‌to‌‌face‌‌and‌‌overcome‌‌as‌‌a ‌‌

coach‌‌during‌‌a‌‌pandemic.‌‌This‌‌artifact‌‌provides‌‌a‌‌deeper‌‌description‌‌of‌‌my‌‌experience‌‌and‌‌videos‌‌of‌ 

coaching‌‌sessions‌‌I‌‌completed.‌  ‌

Completing‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌gave‌‌me‌‌the‌‌opportunity‌‌to‌‌learn‌‌how‌‌to‌‌be‌‌an‌‌effective‌‌ 

instructional‌‌technology‌‌coach‌‌and‌‌provide‌‌teachers‌‌with‌‌appropriate‌‌tools‌‌and‌‌resources‌‌to‌‌ 

enhance‌‌their‌‌teaching‌‌practice.‌‌To‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌process‌‌involved‌‌in‌‌creating‌‌the‌‌artifact,‌‌I‌‌would‌‌ 

have‌‌provided‌‌my‌‌colleague‌‌with‌‌a‌‌follow-up‌‌to‌‌our‌‌original‌‌meeting‌‌although‌‌we‌‌were‌‌ 

interrupted‌‌by‌‌working‌‌from‌‌home‌‌during‌‌the‌‌pandemic.‌‌Since‌‌we‌‌had‌‌to‌‌take‌‌our‌‌teaching‌‌in‌‌a ‌‌

different‌‌direction,‌‌I‌‌provided‌‌a‌‌follow‌‌up‌‌session‌‌with‌‌a‌‌screencast‌‌of‌‌using‌‌Nearpod.‌‌This‌‌was‌‌ 

not‌‌our‌‌original‌‌plan‌‌in‌‌developing‌‌higher‌‌engagement,‌‌so‌‌in‌‌the‌‌future,‌‌I‌‌would‌‌have‌‌provided‌‌ 

him‌‌with‌‌a‌‌session‌‌that‌‌helped‌‌him‌‌learn‌‌to‌‌improve‌‌the‌‌sink‌‌or‌‌swim‌‌activity‌‌we‌‌reviewed‌‌in‌‌our‌‌ 

first‌‌session‌‌in‌‌addition‌‌to‌‌the‌‌Nearpod‌‌resource.‌  ‌

The‌‌work‌‌that‌‌went‌‌into‌‌creating‌‌this‌‌artifact‌‌impacted‌‌faculty‌‌development‌‌because‌‌I ‌‌

was‌‌able‌‌to‌‌work‌‌one-on-one‌‌with‌‌a‌‌teacher‌‌to‌‌help‌‌him‌‌improve‌‌his‌‌teaching‌‌practice‌‌and‌‌ 

achieve‌‌higher‌‌student‌‌engagement.‌‌A‌‌bonus‌‌impact‌‌we‌‌were‌‌able‌‌to‌‌see‌‌was‌‌that‌‌my‌‌colleague‌‌ 

was‌‌able‌‌to‌‌keep‌‌his‌‌students‌‌engaged‌‌through‌‌the‌‌use‌‌of‌‌Nearpod‌‌even‌‌when‌‌we‌‌began‌‌ 

learning‌‌from‌‌home‌‌during‌‌the‌‌pandemic.‌‌The‌‌goals‌‌set‌‌and‌‌actions‌‌that‌‌took‌‌place‌‌to‌‌ 

incorporate‌‌this‌‌new‌‌learning‌‌resource‌‌also‌‌impacted‌‌student‌‌learning‌‌by‌‌providing‌‌them‌‌with‌‌
