SECTION 1. The following regular holidays and special days for the year 2018 shall be observed in
the country:
A. Regular Holidays
• New Year's Day (January 1)
• Maundy Thursday (March 29)
• Good Friday (March 30)
• Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9)
• Labor Day (May 1)
• Independence Day (June 12)
• National Heroes Day (August 27)
• Bonifacio Day (November 30)
• Christmas Day (December 25)
• Rizal Day (December 30)
B. Special (Non-Working) Days
• Chinese New Year (February 16)
• EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary (February 25)
• Black Saturday (March 31)
• Ninoy Aquino Day (August 21)
• All Saints Day (November 1)
• Last Day of the Year (December 31)
• Additional special (non-working) days (November 2 & December 24)

PROCLAMATION NO. 269 SECTION 2


The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha
shall hereafter be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in
accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical
calculations, whichever is possible or convenient. To this end, the National Commission on Muslim
Filipinos (NCMF) shall inform the Office of the President of the actual dates on which these holidays
shall respectively fall.
• Eidul Fitr - 15 Jun
• Eidul Adha - 21 Aug
PAYMENT DURING REGULAR HOLIDAYS
 If the employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100% of his/her salary for that rate.
FORMULA:
Regular Holiday Pay = (Hourly rate x 100%)
ADDITIONAL PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE WORKING DURING REGULAR HOLIDAYS
 For work done during the regular holiday, the employee shall be paid 200% of his/her regular
salary for that day for the next eight hours
FORMULA:
Regular Holiday Premium = (Hourly rate x 200% x 8 hours)
SAMPLE PROBLEM
John works as a janitor in JSS Company 8 hours per day with an hourly rate of Php 63. Today is
Rizal Day but he was required to go to work by his employer. How much will he receive as his pay if he
works for 8 hours?
ADDITONAL PAYMENT TO EMPLOYEES WORKING OVERTIME ON A REGULAR
HOLIDAY
 For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), he/she shall be paid an additional 30%
of his/her hourly rate on said day.
FORMULA:
Overtime Pay = (Hourly rate x 200% x 130% hours worked overtime)
SAMPLE PROBLEM
Aljon is a service crew working in KSP Restaurant with a daily rate of Php 335. He went to work
today even if it is a regular holiday because the restaurant is short in crew. How much would be his pay if
he worked for 12 hours?
PAYMENT DURING SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAYS
 If the employee did not work, the “no work, no pay” principle shall apply unless there is a
favourable company policy, practice or collective bargaining agreement (CBA) granting payment
on special day.
ADDITIONAL PAYMENT TO AN EMPLOYEE WORKING DURING SPECIAL NON-
WORKING HOLIDAYS
 For work done during special, he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her daily rate at the
first eight hours of work.
FORMULA:
Special Holiday Premium = (Hourly rate x 130% x 8 hours)
SAMPLE PROBLEM
Seth works 8 hours everyday as a waiter in ISA Restaurant with an hourly rate of Php 80. How
much will be his pay if he works on a special non-working holiday?
