Subject: Durham Delivers Finds a New Approach to Support Local Restaurants

Press Release
For Immediate Release
Sept. 10, 2020

The launch of Durham Delivers helps local restaurants connect with customers

DURHAM, N.C.- A new delivery service option in Durham called Durham Delivers will launch
on Sept. 10 in hopes of supporting local restaurants during the pandemic. Durham Delivers will
provide financially viable options for independent restaurants by eliminating service fees unlike
other popular delivery apps while adding new delivery options for customers. So far, 33 local
restaurants have agreed to participate in the service.

Co-founder of Durham Delivers, Cara Rousseau is very excited

about the launch. Rousseau said, “The idea really came from us
hearing from the restaurants. GrubHub and other delivery apps
skim 30% off of orders. That can already hurt restaurants who
are struggling to survive. We came up with this idea to connect
living communities with restaurants to do bulk delivery orders.”
Durham Delivers is accepting applications for community
captains who serve as the liaison between the restaurants and
the living community where orders are delivered. A few the restaurants partnering
with Durham Delivers.
Joe Chefman, owner of Yum and Then Some restaurant in Durham, realized quickly how
COVID-19 was going to impact his business. “We’ve managed to stay ahead of the challenges so
far, but a service like Durham Delivers will help us keep more of our profits in our restaurants,”
he said. “My staff and I are thrilled to be part of Durham Delivers. Local folks get to eat local
food, and local businesses benefit. It’s a win-win-win.”

Soon after the launch, Durham Delivers plans on expanding delivery options to other cities in
North Carolina.
