A westward position of the head confirms the Chinese belief that the world of the dead is

in the West. Besides it shows that persons will continue with their day-to-day activities like in

the normal world, that is why the image has the remnants of horses and chariot. The deceased is

likely to continue riding on them even in the afterlife. Besides, Chinese used to pack tombs with

objects that individuals will need in their lives after death. The objects were significant since

they provided linkage between the living and the dead (Ancient China, n. d). The image

demonstrates the conception of the afterlife since that the deceased has gone to live with the gods

and he needs his earthly possession in the process.
