Guided Practice TTW divide the class into 3 groups each with 1 xylophone and 1 15 min

metallophone and ask each group to create a short tune that


showcases their understanding of the terms covered during the
mini lecture. (IS Grouping)
• Timbre

• Chords (Harmony)
• Melody
TTW review the terms with student input and give students 5
minutes to prepare their tune.
TTSW perform for each other and showcase their understanding
of the terms listed above.
TTW record the performances.

Practice TSW choose a favorite artist and write a short description of the
music they play using at least 3 of the terms covered in class.
TSW also compare and contrast their favorite artist with the
music played by Ravi Shankar.

TTW play the excerpts of recordings of each group and ask
students if they can identify their performances. Students will
reflect on the process of creating music and listening to it.
