1. Have got means the same as have to talk about possession, but the form is
very different. We often use have got in spoken English.
2. Have to expresses a general obligation. The obligation comes from
“outside”- perhaps a law, a rule at college or work, or someone in
authority.
You have to have a driver’s license if you want to drive a car
(that’s the law.)
We have to start work at 8:05 a.m. (Our company says we must.)
